| RAFA Nadal is set to receive a prestigious award from the French Academy of Sports on Monday.
At the ceremony, the Mallorca-born tennis star will receive the Serge Kampf Prize for ‘the most beautiful sporting talent shown during the past year’ (sic).
The prize, which will be awarded by the French National Assembly’s president, Bernard Accoyer, is in recognition of Nadal’s ‘exceptional set of results’ in 2008, including his fourth successive win at Roland Garros stadium in Paris, as well as winning Wimbledon and netting an Olympic gold in Peking.
Rafa (pictured) also reached the world number one position in 2008.
Other sporting personalities set to net a prize at Monday’s award ceremony – which has been running since 1956 – include Michael Schumacher, French swimmer Laure Manaudou, Swiss tennis star Roger Federer and Brazilian football player Ronaldinho. |
